Gournes beach (Tassos)
The natural beach of Gournes is located less than one kilometre north-east of Faliraki, the largest holiday resort in Rhodes. The distance to Rhodes Town is less than 10 kilometres.
The beach in general
Gournes, which is also called Tassos Beach after the name of the beach restaurant, is a small, beautiful natural beach which has been awarded EU’s blue flag.
The main part of the beach is well hidden inside a small and beautiful bay, and the water is usually quite calm. The sand is bright, but rather coarse. It is possible to rent sun lounges and sunshades at the beach – both in the sand and on the flat rocks. Other facilities at the beach include showers and toilets.
The beach is the centre of three small beaches that are very close together. It only takes a few minutes to walk to the neighbouring beaches Oasis and Nicholas, both of which share their names with the beach restaurants.
Child-friendliness
Gournes is a very child-friendly beach. Despite its limited size, the children can easily find room to play in the sand, and the water is calm and very shallow.
Water sports activities
There are no water sports activities, but the snorkelling conditions are quite good.
Beach restaurants
There is a very nice restaurant next to the beach with the very name Tassos Kanteen. Here the visitors can enjoy the view of the water and of the neighbouring beach Mavros Kavos, also called Nicolas Beach.
Nearby holiday resorts
The northern part of the holiday resort of Faliraki is located less than 1 km southwest of Gournes beach. Faliraki is the largest holiday resort in Rhodes and is known for its very long sandy beach. The liveliest part of the town is in the southern part, while many of the large family hotels are located further north.
Faliraki is also known for its colourful nightlife in the bars, discos and clubs. They are located in the centre of the town and don’t interfere with the large family hotels. On the northern outskirts of the town is a huge water park, Faliraki Water Park. Here there is fun for the whole family.

The restaurant on Gournes beach is called Tassos Kanteen and is located in the centre of the map. The two small neighbouring beaches Oasis and Nicholas are a short walk away. If you move the map slightly to the south-west, you can see the long sandy beach of Faliraki.
