Grande Blue beach
Grande Blue Beach is located on the east coast of Rhodes, just south of the small holiday resort of Stegna and a 30 km drive south of Rhodes Town.
Grande Blue beach in general
To get down to Grande Blue beach, you first have to pass through the restaurant of the same name. The restaurant’s terrace offers a unique view of the bay. Very few people refrain from taking a photo with their mobile phone!
The picturesque beach is surrounded by fairly high cliffs with green vegetation, a small rocky island and the finest clear bathing water. The water has beautiful blue hues, as do the sun loungers, parasols and even the railing on the steps down to the beach. The name Grande Blue does not come from nowhere.
The sand is coarse, both on the beach and in the water. There are rocks under the water in several places, but not in front of the middle part of the beach. From here, it is ideal to take a swim in the unique surroundings.
Child-friendliness
The beach has shallow water, and the bay provides good protection from waves. So Grande Blue is definitely child-friendly, but remember the steps down to the beach..
Water sports activities
The rocks in the water provide excellent conditions for snorkelling, so remember to bring your diving mask..
Restaurants by the beach
On the beach, there is a large beach bar serving a good selection of drinks and snacks. At the entrance to the beach is the Grande Blu Seaside Restaurant, known for its seafood dishes. The restaurant receives good reviews from guests, and the view from the terrace is outstanding.
Stegna holiday resort
Stegna is a small, charming holiday resort known for its authentic Greek vibe and relaxed atmosphere. The town is located in a bay surrounded by mountains and has a long beach promenade with lovely restaurants, cafés and a few small shops.
The town has only a few hotels, the best being Porto Angeli Beach Resort. The hotel has two large pool areas and the beach is right in front of the hotel. Family rooms are available and there are many facilities for both children and adults. Highly recommended.
Grande Blue beach map
Grande Blue is located roughly in the middle of the map. It is just one of the beautiful natural beaches near Stegna. Two larger and better-known beaches are Tsambika to the north and Agathi to the southwest.
